E-scooter seized - South Derbyshire |
||
|
Whilst dealing with a vulnerable adult male at an incident today, (Monday 19 January), police observed a male riding an e-scooter on a pavement.
The e-scooter was travelling at speed and almost collided with pedestrians.
Mercia Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) asked the rider to stop.
Police explained to the rider that it is illegal to ride an e-scooter on a public pavement or road.
The e-scooter was seized under Section 165A of the Road Traffic Act, loaded onto a recovery truck, and sent to be destroyed.
Please remember it is illegal to ride e-scooters on public roads, paths or bridleways.
Derbyshire Police have seized over 650 e-scooters in the last 12 months, with many being crushed in South Derbyshire.
Thank you.
